Anne Lovers Around The World! Part 3: AYA

My name is AYA, I am Japanese and a potter (it's my hobby).

It was more than 20 years ago when I first got to know Anne. It was when I saw the movie starring Megan Follows that was released in Japan.

I was interested in and admired everything about PEI, the beautiful scenery, the fact that there are many other stories in the Anne series, and LMM herself.

I am proud to say that I got a working holiday visa and lived on the PEI for an entire year. After the long, cold winters, the arrival of spring and the beauty of the island was full of joy that you can't understand until you actually live there.

I lived and worked part-time in Cavendish during the summer. I couldn't forget the starry sky and the quiet forest scenery I saw there.

When I returned to Japan and studied pottery, I wanted to express this in my pottery, and that is how the 'cavendish starry night' series of pottery was born.

Most of all, though, it was her striving to be kind and striving to understand others that I think captured my soul.
