My name is Jana Taifour, and I usually call myself Anne when I’m deep in thought or soaring through my imagination or when I’m out in nature. I’m Syrian Canadian living in Mississauga, ON. I was a reader from a very young age , and this helped me improve my imagination and live in a world of dreams and daydreaming just like Anne. I also have my fits of TEMPER as well just like her. I could lose control easily over things. However no matter how angry I am, I cannot equal Anne. Her outburst at Mrs.Lynde still gives me a laughter attack "I Hate you! I Hate you! I HATE YOU". Also the infamous ‘’Carrots’’.
I also enjoy taking long walks in nature , and I always feel as if everything around me has a story to tell. I talk to flowers , trees , squirrels and everything around me. I cannot help but soar into the wings of anticipation! Just like Anne, I have always hoped to find a bosom friend or a ‘’ Kindred Spirit ‘’ with whom I can imagine with, go on adventures with and build a lovely relationship with them till eternity just like Anne and Diana.
The first time I met Anne was through the cartoon , and I have always loved how bold and outspoken she was. She was always able to see the beauty around her no matter how life brings her down. Anne was genuine in her nature and far from gossip and hatred which gave her a distinction compared to other girls in Avonlea. The way she thrives on knowledge is always great because I was like that. Furthermore , I believe that a woman can achieve greatness and excel in everything. Anne to me is a fictional role model and a friend! When I read the books or watch the Kevin Sullivan films, I feel the warmth and the coziness of home.
I fell in love with Anne because she was genuine, honest and a Kindred spirit even though she was hurt on the inside. Anne is imaginative , and she is never ashamed of her own thoughts or fancies which to me is the best trait she has. Her theatrical apologies , the scrapes she gets herself into, her thrive for knowledge , and her heroic spirit forces everyone to accept her and later love her. She attracted lots of Kindred spirits around her who also taught her and loved her. To her , the world is like a theatre where she has to play her part to the fullest and find her goals and desires.
If I would pick situations that really stuck with me , I would pick the moment when she broke the slate over Gilbert’s head just because her called her carrots. Now I can’t see or hear the word carrot without laughing out loud. If I read the scene or even see it in movies , it gives me a thrill! ‘’ Carrots’’. However, I cried and cried the moment Mathew told her :’’ I love my little girl, I’m proud of my little girl’’. Her vows with Diana make my heart melt each time! ‘’ I solemnly swear to be faithful to my bosom friend Diana for as long as the sun and moon shall endure”. I loved that moment in the house of dreams when she said: “ I don’t want sunbursts or marble halls, I just want you’’. Those and Many others which taught me a lesson about life, love, dreams and reality.
I love Anne so much.
