Anne Lovers Around The World! Part 6: Christina Hinshaw

My name is Christina Hinshaw.

I fell in love with the Anne of Green Gables book series, and the 1985 Kevin Sullivan movie series. I was 16 when I first discovered the Anne of Green Gables movies series. I was in a foster home at the time. I was a young mother, my daughter was 4 months old. I had gone into a foster home, because of some things going on in my home. My foster mother had recommended them to me. It was spring of 1991. Once I put the first VHS tapes in I was hooked. I couldn’t stop watching them. One right after the other! I fell in love with them all, and was so upset once there weren't anymore to watch.

I ended up getting married by the end of the year. Fast forward 15 years later plus 4 more beautiful blessings my children, and a new marriage my husband got me the DVD’s and book series I watched the DVD’s with everyone in hopes that they would love them as much as me. In 2007 Jonathan Crombie was touring The United States he was in a play called The Drowsy Chaperone. My husband bought my friend and I tickets it go see it. It was such a wonderful show! After it had ended he came out the stage doors. I was able to meet him what a wonderful delight my heart was so full of Joy. I asked Jonathan Crombie to sign my shirt, and he said are you sure you want me to sign your shirt? Lol I said yes I’m sure! He signed it say “Nice to meet you Christina! Sorry for ruining your shirt Jonathan Crombie.” Then he took pictures with me. I was so excited!

We recently moved to Florida and I haven’t unpacked everything. Fast forward to August 2018 my Church let me have a Anne of Green Gables tea party for the children of our Church. I was searching everywhere trying to find Anne of Green Gables things for the Tea party, it was very hard. I stumbled across your online store I was able to order some Anne of Green Gables napkins. a couple of weeks later my daughter had found out her favorite singer was in Toronto Canada, and asked if we could drive there. I told her she had to ask her dad, and then to my surprise he said yes. It’s about a ten hour drive from where we lived in Indiana. Within five hours we were packed had a rental car. Then with so much excitement we were headed out on the road. We went up there in hopes to see Harry Styles, but unfortunately never found him.

I asked my husband since we were already there if we could we drive on over to Prince Edward Island. I was so delighted he said yes. It took us a couple days to get there. When we finally got there unfortunately there were no rooms available. We had to stay in a town close by. We got up early the next morning. We spent the whole day there. When we went into Cavendish I found the store I was able to find the raspberry cordial bottled sodas, and tons of other little gifts. We had such a blast or at least I did it was finally a dream come true I was so over joyed.

I have lots of pictures I shared a few of my favorites with you I was supposed to have a girls trip there for two weeks this past summer with some of my friend. They also love Anne of Green Gables but, because of COVID we weren’t able to. Hopefully we will be able to soon.

God bless you

Sincerely,

Christina Hinshaw!

I believe I was about 10 or 11 years old when I first read Anne of Green Gables. This was in Gdansk, Poland, where I was born. (I now live in the UK.) I remember being completely captivated by Anne Shirley – by her imagination, her poetic nature, her connection to nature and her gratitude – despite (or because?) the hardships of her earlier life. Most of all, though, it was her striving to be kind and striving to understand others that I think captured my soul.
